In the realm of holistic healing, few methodologies resonate as profoundly as Transformational Touch and Developmental Trauma Resolution, spearheaded by the esteemed Steven Terrell. This revolutionary approach transcends conventional therapies, offering a unique pathway to healing for postpartum women and individuals grappling with various forms of trauma. This highly effective treatment is practiced by Paul O Regan at Aim to Recover and blends perfectly with the other methods offered at the centre to help recovery further and at a profoundly deep level.

Understanding Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a hands-on approach that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Developed from osteopathic principles, this therapy involves gentle touch and manipulation to release restrictions and promote the body's natural healing mechanisms.

Advantages During Pregnancy and Postpartum for Women

Prenatal Harmony: Craniosacral Therapy provides a serene and nurturing experience for expectant mothers. By addressing tensions and imbalances in the body, it contributes to a state of harmony, supporting a more comfortable pregnancy journey.

Reducing Pregnancy Discomfort: The therapy's gentle touch is particularly beneficial for alleviating common discomforts associated with pregnancy, such as back pain, pelvic discomfort, and hormonal fluctuations.

Facilitating Postpartum Recovery: Postpartum can be a time of physical and emotional adjustment. Craniosacral Therapy aids in the restoration of balance, promoting quicker recovery from the birthing process and addressing any residual tension or trauma.

Emotional Well-being: Beyond the physical, this therapy nurtures emotional well-being. The calming effects of Craniosacral Therapy can help reduce stress and anxiety, fostering a positive mindset during the postpartum period.

For Infants:

Gentle Support for Newborns: Craniosacral Therapy is incredibly gentle, making it suitable for even the tiniest patients. It is often used to address any strains or imbalances that may have occurred during the birthing process.

Colic and Digestive Issues: Infants often experience digestive discomfort, and Craniosacral Therapy can provide relief by addressing any restrictions in the digestive system, promoting better function and reducing symptoms like colic.

Sleep and Relaxation: The calming nature of Craniosacral Therapy supports the nervous system, potentially aiding in improved sleep for infants. This can be particularly beneficial for both the baby and the parents.

Bonding and Attachment: Through gentle touch, Craniosacral Therapy enhances the parent-infant bond. It provides a nurturing space for both parents and infants to connect on a deeper level, fostering a sense of security and trust.

Why Choose Craniosacral Therapy?

Non-Invasive Approach: Craniosacral Therapy is non-invasive, making it suitable for individuals of all ages, including pregnant women and newborns. The gentle touch respects the body's natural rhythms.

Holistic Healing: Addressing both the physical and energetic aspects of well-being, Craniosacral Therapy promotes holistic healing, recognising the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.

Personalized Treatment: Each session is tailored to the individual, allowing for a customised approach that considers the unique needs and experiences of women and children.

In conclusion, Craniosacral Therapy emerges as a gentle yet potent ally for women during pregnancy and postpartum, as well as for the well-being of infants. Anthony claffey

Anthony is a holistic physio and cranial sacral therapist, an Anatomy in Motion instructor, and a curious human.

Anthony entered the realm of bodywork driven by a personal quest to address his own physical challenges. Struggling since the age of 12, he found himself unable to kneel and had to cease playing sports due to deteriorating knee conditions, eventually undergoing three knee operations. Despite a decade of pain and frustration, he realised that he had been attempting to force changes in his body without truly understanding its needs.

Through the self-assessment component of Anatomy in Motion, Anthony discovered a new way to connect with anatomy, emphasising a gentle approach that eschews force in favour of attentiveness to the body's natural processes. This transformative experience heightened his self-awareness significantly. Utilising the Flow Motion Model, a walking-based body movement map, he exceeded his expectations in resolving his physical issues.

Anthony's inherent abstract thinking and problem-solving skills define his nature. His true proficiency lies in his investigative abilities, allowing him to identify overlooked, untreated, and ignored aspects of the body. Through his work, he assists others in liberating themselves from pain, achieving greater alignment, and experiencing a genuine sense of freedom within their bodies.

Patricia Brady Kiernan

Hi, my name is Patricia Brady Kiernan.

I am a registered Nurse and Midwife with NMBI and have spent several years specializing in Midwifery across Ireland, the UK, and the Middle East. Upon returning home, I worked in the National Maternity Hospital (NMH) in Holles St., focusing on Ante-post Natal and Gynae departments. Afterward, I took a career break to become a stay-at-home mother to our four children.

During this time, I discovered Holistic Medicine after numerous visits to our family GP. Antibiotics were often prescribed, and surgery seemed like the only option for the many ear, nose, and throat infections our children faced. I decided to explore alternative treatments and found Homoeopathy. After seeing incredible results, I began my Homeopathic studies at the Irish School of Homoeopathy (ISH) and started my practice as a licensed Homoeopath in 2008.

My interest in Complementary Therapies grew, leading me to study Reiki and eventually Craniosacral Therapy with the Upledger International Institute Ireland (UIII). I received excellent training from tutors across the UK, Netherlands, USA, and Ireland. After becoming a CST/SER Therapist, I pursued further training in Paediatrics, Preconception & Birth, and have studied to Advanced 2 Level. I also have experience as a Teaching Assistant at all levels and am currently studying to teach CST.

Dr. John Upledger, founder of the Upledger school, famously said, "We hold our issues in our tissues." You can refer to the History of CST on the IACST website for a deeper understanding of this work.

The body is a self-regulating, self-healing mechanism, as recognized by the conventional medical community. However, sometimes the body needs assistance to "right itself." Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, light-touch therapy that facilitates the body's natural self-healing. As a CST/SER Therapist, I use gentle perception skills to work with the client’s "Inner Wisdom" as the body learns to relax, release, and "let go" of restrictions and tensions that may have accumulated over years.

Throughout life, as we face mental, emotional, or physical challenges, tissue restrictions can develop in the Fascial and Craniosacral Systems. These restrictions can impact the Central and Autonomic Nervous Systems, leading to issues such as chronic pain, trapped nerve neuralgia, numbness, and tingling. Dental work may cause later problems, such as TMJ, which can be alleviated with CST mouthwork. Birth traumas and instrumental deliveries can result in developmental delays, with the retention of primitive reflexes, leading to motor and sensory challenges.

Conditions such as ADD, ADHD, ASD, SID, and Asperger's in children, as well as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson's, MS, ME, and Myofascial issues in adults, are becoming more prevalent. Having trained in both conventional medicine and complementary holistic fields, I feel equipped to work with clients alongside their medical practitioners. My hope is to help bridge these two disciplines, as conventional medicine will always have a primary place in healthcare, but I believe holistic therapies also have a vital role in the future of health.

I work with a number of holistic practitioners in an Ante/Post Natal Clinic called Acudub, treating women before and after birth and supporting their babies through vaccination programs. I also assist couples facing infertility issues. I often combine homoeopathic remedies with CST to balance the body as it embarks on its healing journey. Additionally, I work with clients undergoing chemotherapy, and CST offers gentle support during their treatment. CST can also be beneficial for elderly care and end-of-life support, offering comfort to both clients and their families.
