Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional therapy is a personalised approach to health and well-being using food and nutrients to address specific health concerns, such as fatigue, postpartum recovery, fertility, menopause and hormonal imbalances, irritable bowel, skin conditions, autoimmune diseases, weight loss, and much more. It involves tailored dietary and lifestyle recommendations to support optimal health, address imbalances, and promote overall wellness. By analysing your diet, lifestyle, and health history, our nutritional therapists develop a customised plan to address nutritional deficiencies, support health goals, and optimise well-being. This approach aims to enhance energy, vitality, and disease prevention through evidence-based dietary changes and targeted nutrition interventions.

Common Conditions Treated with Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional therapy can be beneficial for addressing a wide range of health conditions and concerns. Some of the most commonly treated conditions include:

Digestive Disorders: Conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), acid reflux, bloating, and food intolerances can often be supported through dietary and nutritional interventions.

Hormonal Imbalances: Nutritional therapy can address conditions related to hormonal imbalances, such as postpartum recovery, fertility challenges, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), menopausal symptoms, and thyroid disorders, through targeted dietary and lifestyle modifications.

Weight Management: Nutritional therapy can be tailored to support weight management goals by addressing factors such as metabolism, appetite regulation, hormonal balance, and emotional eating patterns.

Chronic Fatigue and Low Energy: Nutritional therapy can help address underlying issues contributing to chronic fatigue, low energy levels, and general feelings of tiredness.

Stress and Mood Disorders: Dietary adjustments and appropriate nutrient support can play a role in managing stress, anxiety, depression, and supporting overall emotional well-being.

Cardiovascular Health: Nutritional therapy may be beneficial in supporting cardiovascular health and managing risk factors such as high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and inflammation.

Blood Sugar Regulation: Nutritional therapy can provide guidance on supporting stable blood sugar levels, which can be beneficial for conditions such as prediabetes, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

Skin Health: Skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis can be addressed through dietary adjustments focusing on nutrient support and identifying potential triggers.

Immune System Support: Nutritional therapy can play a role in supporting immune function and managing conditions related to immune system imbalances and autoimmunity.

Sleep Issues: Nutritional therapy can address sleep issues by identifying nutrient imbalances, dietary factors, lifestyle patterns, and sleep hygiene habits that impact sleep quality, balance, and duration.

By providing individualised nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, nutritional therapy aims to address each person’s unique health concerns while promoting overall well-being and vitality. It is important to note that nutritional therapy can complement conventional medical care and may be used as part of a comprehensive approach to health and wellness.

Aoife Reilly

Aoife is a Nutritional Therapist and Executive Health Coach, specialising in supporting women through all stages of motherhood from fertility to pregnancy to postpartum recovery, and beyond. Aoife is a mother of two small children, Ellie and Jamie, and has experienced first hand the challenges of miscarriage, pregnancy, homebirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum depletion:

“I was very run down, exhausted, and depleted after my first baby, Ellie’s newborn phase, as I was breastfeeding 24/7, trying to look after the home, and getting very little sleep. Nutritional therapy was critical for me to make a strong recovery, and to ensure that Ellie was getting the best nutrition from me to support her growth, development, and digestion. I discovered (the hard way!) that the nutritional needs of a new mother are very unique, and that the right foods and approach to this phase make a massive difference to recovery. I had implemented a great plan for the fertility, pregnancy and birth phases, but at that time, no-one was tailoring nutritional therapy to the postpartum phase in the right way, and I wasn’t aware of the different needs of a new mother. So, I researched and developed my own nutritional therapy plan that worked extremely quickly, and got me back to optimal health. When Jamie was born, despite him being almost 10 pounds at birth and a very frequent feeder day and night, I was in much better health - even with a toddler to look after as well”.

After this experience, Aoife wanted to help other new mothers along the entire motherhood journey from fertility and pregnancy planning through birth, postpartum, and balancing the return-to-work and toddler phases. She especially cares about helping new mothers to avoid the lows of postnatal depletion that she experienced, and to have the best possible recovery experience.
